Foot & Ankle Pain

Biomechanical issues, such as flat feet or high arches, can create improper weight distribution, increasing strain on the joints. Poor footwear, including unsupportive shoes or high heels, can contribute to misalignment and chronic pain.

What Is Foot & Ankle Pain ?

Common symptoms of foot and ankle pain include:

  • Sharp, shooting pain traveling up into the knee, calf, or hip
  • Instability, making it feel like the foot won’t support weight properly
  • Overpronation or supination, where the foot rotates too far in or out, affecting balance
  • Collapsed arches, causing stabbing pain with each step
  • Swelling and inflammation, making it difficult to put weight on the foot
  • Burning or tingling sensations, often due to nerve compression
  • Limited range of motion, restricting ankle flexibility and movement
  • Cramping or muscle tightness, caused by tension in the foot and lower leg

Since foot mechanics influence the entire body, untreated foot pain can lead to compensation patterns, causing additional stress on the ankles, knees, hips, and lower back. Addressing the underlying cause of foot pain is essential for maintaining long-term mobility and function.

What Are The Symptoms Of Foot & Ankle Pain ?

Back pain can present in many ways, including:

  • Muscle spasms – a gripping, tight sensation that restricts movement, making it difficult to bend forward or backward.
  • Sciatica – pain that radiates down the leg, sometimes reaching the foot, caused by nerve compression.
  • Disc issues – weakness, instability, or sharp pain triggered by certain movements.

These symptoms can severely impact daily life – from struggling to get out of bed or a chair to experiencing sudden spasms while walking. Some individuals become fearful of movement, worried that any action will trigger even more pain.

Many people experiencing chronic back pain first seek help from their physician, who often prescribes pain medication. While this may provide temporary relief, it doesn’t address the root cause of the pain or help prevent it from returning.

However, these methods often only provide short-term relief. Injections, for example, can be hit or miss, requiring precise placement to be effective – yet many patients spend significant money without achieving lasting results.

What Is Our Approach To Fixing/Treating Foot & Ankle Pain ?

If you’re suffering from foot and ankle pain, we at We Got Your Back PT, Pilates, & Wellness are highly skilled at quickly identifying the source of the pain. We start by ruling out any issues coming from your back or sciatic nerve area, and then we determine whether it’s related to a musculoskeletal injury, such as a chronic ankle sprain or plantar fasciitis.

Often, what seems like plantar fasciitis is actually related to the sciatic nerve, even though the symptoms mimic those of plantar fasciitis. At We Got Your Back PT, Pilates, & Wellness, we take a detailed history and interview you thoroughly to understand what’s been going on in your body. This allows us to pinpoint the underlying cause and determine if the issues are connected.

The benefit of this approach is that we can focus our time and attention on the real cause of your pain. It’s important to focus on the root issue, as treating just the symptoms will only provide temporary relief. While we can certainly help alleviate the pain for a while, simply masking it won’t help you get back to your daily activities or sports without the risk of re-injury.

We’re committed to providing quick, effective, and long-term results through natural methods. Our treatment combines manual therapy with careful assessment and specific exercises tailored to your needs. We also offer gym memberships and personal training for those who prefer more specialized guidance as they continue their rehabilitation.

It’s essential to address injuries as soon as they occur. The sooner you come in for an assessment and treatment, the quicker you’ll be able to return to the activities you love. Don’t wait months or even years for your injury to worsen into more problems. At We Got Your Back PT, Pilates, & Wellness, we’ll get you back on your feet as quickly as possible.
